At the young age of 23, Emma Watson has already enjoyed a multifaceted career as an actress, Ivy League scholar and spokesmodel, but recently she’s acquired another job skill—she’s a certified yoga instructor.
Emma Watson has always had a very busy life, getting cast in the first of a series of hugely successful Harry Potter films at the age of nine. She went on to star in all eight Potter films, but also managed to fit in classes at Brown University, where she’s scheduled to graduate next month. In an interview with Wonderland magazine, the actress hinted that she’s ready to pursue new interests.
“I feel like I have so much more to accomplish as an actress. I’d love to try theater and that’s a whole other thing. But when I finish my degree, I will have a lot more time to pursue other passions, and I want to figure out what those will be. I love having something completely unrelated to the film industry. I want to find something that will let me use my brain in another way. I like connecting people who aren’t part of that world too.”
One way that Watson has been using both her brain and her body is by becoming certified as a yoga instructor. As she told her interviewer, “Then, there you go. I can be a full-time actress and a personal part-time yoga teacher?”
While you’re not likely to find Emma Watson teaching yoga at your favorite studio, the actress plans to keep up with the practice. “I was like ‘I need to find a way to always feel safe and at home within myself. Because I can never rely on a physical place.’”
